Fact.

I am my father's daughter.

I am just not quite sure whether this is a good or a bad thing...

But I was buying nautical plywood and epoxy resin today :-D

PS. Another beauty growing in our garden.

Vienna

More pictures from Vienna...

Basilisk
Yes, this is a cow with glasses, playing Backgammon with a wolf.  But of course.

A lovely dome...
... but completely fake, just an illusion :-)
Aliens landing
615 € ?!?

Really?

Oh well ...

You know you're old when you no longer understand current fashion.

Well, I'm officially old.

Because I cannot possibly imagine why anyone would want to wear these camel-toe cloven hoof boots...

Or this, for that matter. Seriously? Project Runway challenge gone wrong.

Puzzles

The amount of stress in my life is directly proportional to the amount of distractions I need to somehow stay sane.

Yep, there are lots of them.

Dedicated flower of fashion

Everywhere I look, everyone seems to be making apple roses. Simple to make, delicious and very pretty.

So - following the baking trends - of course I had to make them.

They really are very simple to make, very delicious and very pretty :-)

Farewell

A friend of mine passed away and today was her funeral...
About fourty years too soon...

On days like this one starts thinking about life, the universe and everything. About what is and what is not. About what matters and what doesn't. And you realise that pretty much nothing matters but a very few very precious "things": your family and your friends. The rest you can easily live without. Without them, you can't. And probably don't even want.

A very popular saying goes that you should live each day as if it were your last. Sorry, Marcus Aurelius, you got it all wrong. Last days usually suck. You should live each day as if it were your first!

Everyone should discover, observe, learn and love as you would on the first day! Well, maybe not on the very first day of your life but you know what I mean. Enjoy it while it lasts - one day it will all be over.

This one is for you, Renata, wherever you are!

By-product

For the past few months I've been working on something remotely work-related... My colleagues and I wrote a text book on natural science and now it's basically finished. 118 pages of a wonderful book! The reviewers are doing their job and we're hoping they won't be too harsh on us. Since the book has been consuming all my time lately there are no sewing updates. I do have plenty of new photographs as a by-product of the book though. Enjoy!

Photography

One of my greatest passions is photography. Unfortunately I don't have enough time to do it as often as I wanted to, but sometimes I find a couple of hours to do it. Like today. First the results:

Then the technical details: Nikon D80, Nikkor Micro 60mm, 2.8, 1/30s, remote flash, SB-800, tripod.

And finally, how I did it:

PS. In loving memory of my Mom. She passed away only four months after my Dad. She adored flowers and here favourite were tulips. Unfortunately, tulips were nowhere to be found in December so I got her some roses instead.
