I said I was going to be ready this summer!
Another blue dress I made:
It looks way better with a "belt" in the picture, but I still think I will wear it without.
I said I was going to be ready this summer!
Another blue dress I made:
From one of the fabrics, I made a light, airy and flowy summery dress.
I didn't have a pattern, but sort of copied one of the dresses I bough a few years ago during one of our many stays on Elba.
This year I am going to be ready for summer.
I cannot go past the crazy weather we're having.
Not my home town - but not that far either:
15. 4. at 14:00: 27 C
16. 4. at 16:00: 0.2 C
An almost 27 degree difference in one day.
My hometown was not much better, from 25.3 to 0.5.
Oh well.
When your close friend celebrates his 50th birthday, he deserves a present.
And since he's practicing karate for quite a while now, he'll be getting a tiger-kimono.
And black velvet collar.
I did my best in pattern placing and pattern matching - it's not perfect, but not bad, methinks.
I hope he will like it.
And use it.
At least once :-)

Opening of the kayak season is somehow delayed, although I don't quite know why. Maybe because we're busy doing all the other things :-)
There are some songs/compositions that hit just the right notes.
This is one of them:
And yes, I saw him live.
Perfection.
Except his new hairstyle which I just cannot approve.
Sorry, Yann.
I recently learned a quote by Kurt Cobain:
"They laugh at me because I'm different;
I laugh at them because they're all the same."
This year I celebrated the National cultural holiday abroad, in Ravenna, Italy.
Yes, 450.
They did have a questionable fashion sense back then...
After ten years, the kitchen chairs really needed new fabrics.
And as you can guess by now, I am not a beige person.
Another weekend, another birthday party, so more delicious food.
It started on Friday already by celebrating the Candlemas with tons of pancakes.
And continued on Saturday with fondue, empanadas and more cakes.
To be more precise, one raspberry-white chocolate-almond tart and one tiramisu.
They were both super delicious but surprisingly, eating them together was even better :-)
And you can also notice the green paper napkins with wild boars. They were brought especially for this occasion from Chambord castle in the Loire Valley.
And there were candles! One cannot properly celebrate birthday without blowing out the birthday candles, right?
And yes, there were a lot of them. Oh well...
One needs a proper cake for a birthday.
Especially if 20 people are invited. Then one needs more than just one proper cake.
So I made three cakes.
One was the standard carrot cake, the one I always bake for myself.
And the other two, well, they were Christophe Michalak's cakes.
No less.
The one in the front is this coconut-orange-passion-fruit cake. This one was almost perfect. Methinks. I even got the microbasil!
The other one was this chocolate-raspberry tart. I had some issues with assembly as I could not transfer the filling onto the sable. So I just turned it upside down ... 🤷 Oh well... But the tastes were super intense and delicious.
Sooo, we've been away.
In France.Quelle surprise!
Despite troubles with our car.
Despite me feeling sick.
Despite the rain.
Despite having to leave one day earlier.
But for once I did not regret returning home as this is what awaited me at home:
