Today MiniMojcek Nr. 2's school reopened. After 81 days!
So yesterday he needed to pack the school bag. And... let's just say we found some things that were left there forgotten for 81 days.
Including this orange.
I must add though, that it smelled really delicious. Very intense. Almost like a dried orange :-)

School museum
Today we went to the School Museum to celebrate national cultural holiday.
We attended a Grammar class 1811 reenactment.
And guess who got the award (a holy card) for the best pupil :-)

School History Project
I looove my kids' school projects. Not only science but also history projects.
Like this one, when they had to make a prehistoric pile dwelling or stilt house. With a bit of my (and Mr. Mojcek's) help, this house was built.
And a dugout canoe.
With paddles.

Elba
Ohhh, I love school projects.
And since I am who I am, I am not satisfied unless my kid's school project looks... as good as it possibly can.
This time the task was to make a raised-relief map. After a bit of brainstorming how to make the relief, I came up with the idea of coloured foam sheets. Easy to work with, easy to cut, easy to glue...
So, I'm proud to say that with only a tiny little bit of my help, MiniMojcek Nr. 1 came up with this. The island of Elba.
And yes, this was the first time I let him use my scalpel :-)

Stars!
I just love kids' science projects. This time we went stargazing and it's amazing that just about 15 min from the city centre you can see a wonderful starry sky.

Beach tote, part two
Yes, my kids have a lot of teachers. So I made three more bags, these were all for teachers of MiniMojcek Nr.1.
The first one is for probably the best teacher in the world.
I just looove the fabric.
I also like the fabric that I used for the other two bags:
The teachers loved them!

Not a perfectly matching pattern but good enough...

Monkey see, monkey do!
Two weeks ago, I was making pouches for MiniMojcek Nr.2's kindergarden teachers. Now it was time to make something for the teachers of MiniMojcek Nr. 1!
We got them some really lovely stuff but I wanted to add something personal. And since their class was the class of monkeys, I wanted to make something monkey-related. did you expect anything else?
Luckily I had some monkey-fabric at home, so I just cut the squares, glued them to the bag with a double-sided fabric glue tape and then sewed them onto the bag. The teachers were happy and so was I. Not to mention how proud MiniMojcek Nr.1 was that his mom did the bags for his teachers!
Happy summer holidays!

Upgrading a notebook
Say you have a kid who loves Star Wars. Say this kid wants to have a Star Wars notebook for school. Say you go to about five stores looking for one but you can't find it. Say you're a mom who is not stopped by this...
So I bought an ordinary notebook.
Then I googled for a high resolution Star Wars poster, printed it,
laminated it,
and taped it onto the cover of the notebook with a black insulating tape.
It took me about half an hour to make MiniMojcek Nr.1 very very happy.

Proud mum!
Life is extremely hectic at the moment - we are renovating the house, I'm writing two (not one, two!) books at a time, MiniMojcek Nr.2 started kindergarden way worse than we expected and MiniMojcek Nr.1 started school. The proper school. While the first two hours were terrible, the rest of the week was superb! He's got the most wonderful teacher and this is what he made on his second day at school: a self-portrait.
The inscription says "That's me" and you can surely recognise the Union Jack on the T-shirt he wore that day. That's my boy!
