Cycling

Some paths are meant for cycling.

Just like some rivers are meant for kayaking ;-)

Cycling in Croatia

Cycling the Parenzana trail is a great experience.

Visiting some historic villages ...

... and cycling a lovely trail ...

with plenty of places to take a break :-)

Autumn is here

Despite the weather forecast, it did not rain all the time.

Just while hiking.

And while cycling.

But we had sun while climbing :-)

GOAT!

You don't often get the chance to ride the bike with the best.

Well, with THE Best one.

I didn't.

Mr Mojcek did :-)

A short break

We used a long weekend and went climbing, cycling, sight-seeing and relaxing ... to Croatia.

We stumbled upon a 6-th century church...

... admired a 2000-year-old foot...

... and had lunch with a view of a 2000-year-old arena.

The scenery was fantastic, as always in this time of the year.

Kayaking and cycling time!

The next weekend was dedicated to kayaking.

Charity kayaking.

Let's just say that we, as a family, combined, finished as many laps as the 'winner'.

Oh well.

Next year we'll be better :-)

And I started Suffering again!

Sorry - Systming

I will never ever get over this stupid name change!

Action

We used the lovely days for some cycling, climbing and kayaking.

And visiting some lovely medieval chapels.

To the fellow Sufferlandrians

I need to brag to all the fellow Sufferlandrians.

I've completed the Nine Hammers challenge.

At 100%.

At a 17% higher NP than the last time I did it, about a year ago.

Me happy.

And for those of you who don't like to suffer on your bike, maybe this song will motivate you to join us: Gabriel Bruce - Come All Sufferers ... Or not.

PS. Oh, and the Systm has a lovely bug in it, as I am pretty sure I did not ride at a maximum speed of 431.9 km/h ;-)

Updates

Just a brief update to my two recent posts.

- adding one more song to my playlist: Laibach's The Wistleblowers

- and adding another wonderful win by Roglič, this time in Catalonia. Brilliant!

Cycling!

What a lovely day for cycling enthusiasts!

Roglič winning Tirreno-Adriatico and Pogačar winning Paris-Nice race.

Totally different from last year, when Roglič won Paris-Nice and Pogačar won Tirreno-Adriatico ;-)

Pax et bonum

Is there a special club for people whose bicycles had been stolen?

Count me in.

And while I do wish Pax et Bonum to everyone, to you, who stole our bikes, I wish that the ebike battery explodes.

Umbria is still pretty, though.

More statistics - Sufferfest

Inspired by the Duolingo progress, I also did some Sufferfest-ing statistics. Or am I supposed to say Systming?

So, in the last five months, I've spent 102 hours and 15 minutes Suffering. That is, on average, 40 minutes a day!

That is a lot of suffering :-D

Unfortunately, I cannot give a yearly statistics, as the first half of the year I was either Les Mills-ing or Rouvy-ing the French passes.

I should have known it.

Say there is something you like. And believe in it. And identify with it.

    Yes, Sufferfest, looking at you.

And then you start getting emails about what a great upgrade is coming.

    Yes, Sufferfest, looking at you.

And when the big change arrives, you are so so SO bitterly disappointed.

    Yes, Sufferfest, looking at you.

You no longer like it. You no longer feel like part of it. You feel left out. And you hate the name change.

    Yes, SYSTM, looking at you.

Just a lot of PC corporate BS.

    Yes, SYSTM, looking at you.

It sucks bitterly, but then again, I am old enough that I should have known it.

Rant over.

Watching TV like everyone else

Just like the rest of the world, I'm watching the Olympics and am fascinated by the athletes. My heroes being:

- Roglič. Pure power and concentration.

- Savšek. Pure elegance and coordination. I'm really happy for him... although he is from 'the other' club, from the other part of town ;-)

- Kiesenhofer. Brilliant, just brilliant! Plus, she holds a PhD in mathematics on pretty much the same subject as MrMojcek. Such a funny coincidence.

So many so interesting stories behind these great achievements.

Optics in spring

Now that my hand is getting better (and the weather warmer), I opened the kayaking and cycling season.

And I can again play with some simple experiments.

Optical activity of sugar (sugar dissolved in water between polarisers)

I mean - how can anybody not love physics?!?

Tourmalet, again

Time for (virtually) climbing Col du Tourmalet again.

No help from Mr Mojcek needed this time, and I did it in just under 2:18 :-)

The only help I had was from Paul Kalkbrenner

On repeat.

Friday, 1 January 2021

And a Happy New Year!

Virtually climbing Col du Tourmalet from Luz-Saint-Sauveur - check.

Time... well... with a tiny little bit of help from Mr. Mojcek, I made it in 2:22.

Virtual cycling

Since we are still not allowed to leave the municipality due to Covid restrictions, we continue to cycle virtually.

After climbing Col d'Eze from Nice a couple of times, today I climbed Mt. Ventoux from Bedoin.

My time? Well... 2:19:32.

This is a picture from Eze. Taken last year, when the world was such a different place...

Perfect!

And .... again a cycling post.

With Covid going on, the Giro and La Vuelta overlap for a few days.

So Slovenians managed to win two Grand Tour stages in one day :-D

Well done, Tratnik for winning the Giro stage and Roglič for winning the Vuelta stage.

We are so being spoilt by these guys!

A lovely late summer

What a lovely late summer/early autumn it is!

We are paddling:

And yes, this is a home-made kayak.
Our corona-baby :-)

We are hiking:

We are cycling:

No, we are not bored.

And and and and ...Alaphilippe is the world champion! Me happy. Me very happy :-)

And Giro starts tomorrow!
