Let's say you're super busy and work insane hours preparing an important project for work. 

When you get really tired, on a Saturday evening, you ask Chat GPT to create an overview scheme illustrating the project content for the cover page.

And Chat delivers a lovely sketch. Of course. 

It's just that the project is about experimental fundamental physics :-)

None of the actors, producers, technicians ... anyone ... on the set noticed the exponents in the subscript?!?

Maybe I should stop using this paper for my to-do lists!

Colour of the year

Pantone chose the colour of the year 2024:

Peach fuzz.

Probably the worst colour of the year ever. 

It's not even a colour, it's ... what is it?!?

The only thing it reminds me of are old Hansaplasts/Band-aids.

It's even worse than the Rose quartz/millennial pink.

And those were bad.

PS. Haha, I googled peach fuzz not knowing the meaning of the phrase - and all I get is how to ged rid of it... Well, yes, please, get rid of this horrible non-colour.

Lost keys

The bad thing about losing things, well, is that you lose them.

The good thing, however, is that looking for the one lost item, you find a lot of other missing items. 

Just not the one you were looking for.

Oh well.

I should have known Part 2

About I year ago, I was complaining about the Sufferfest takeover by Systm. What a disappointment.

Well, now it's time to complain again. This time it's Duolingo that's made some drastic changes. And by drastic I mean unforgivable. So I'm sticking to it for a few more days, to reach the 1000 day streak, then it's time to say goodbye. 

Not all of us are linear learners, some of us want flexibility and choice. It's been nice knowing you, Duo.

Pantone colour of the year

I just have to complain about Pantone's choice of the Colour of the year. 

Ultimate Gray and Illuminating yellow.

As if I haven't had enough grey in my life already... According to them, gray is "emblematic of solid and dependable elements which are everlasting and provide a firm foundation" and "quietly assures, encouraging feelings of composure, steadiness and resilience."

No.

Grey is bland, foggy, empty, unexciting, neither fish nor fowl, and ... just ... blah. 

I'm keeping my homepage in Classic blue for another year.

The importance of understanding mathematics

Current situation is a perfect proof why people need to understand basic mathematics. 

Everybody - and I mean everybody - should know how an exponential curve behaves. Period.

40 hours

You know that feeling when it is Friday afternoon, 3pm, and you realise that you have about 40 hours of intense work that has to be done until Sunday evening? Or at least before Monday very early in the morning?

Two sides

Apparently there are two sides to every story.

There are also two sides of one's house.

This is on one side - my garden.

And this is on the other side - neighbours demolishing the old house.

It was such a lovely wooden house, now they will be building something ... well ... different.
